About Lliam:

Apart from having bone marrow that is in constant war with his own immune system, Lliam is a healthy 11 year old boy. He loves sport and can’t wait for his blood supply to reach normal levels so that he can start playing sport again, hopefully this time with far more energy.

The condition is either hereditary or acquired. It would appear as if his Aplastic Anaemia is acquired and of an unknown (idiopathic) cause. It is possible that his condition has developed over an extended period of time, even a couple of years, with his body compensating to such an extent that nobody (not even doctors) noticed…but that remains speculation and we might never know. We have a few theories about medication that could have contributed or caused the disease, but seeing that we can’t prove any of it, we will refrain from making any such claims.

Please be so kind as to sign his Guestbook.

If you want to send him personal emails, you can do so at lliamc@autoimmunityfoundation.org

About the Website:

With this website we are aiming to serve a dual purpose, firstly to provide our family and friends with a status report on Lliam’s progress, and secondly to provide and share information with other people having to deal, either directly or indirectly, with the same or a similar condition.

What we portray here are our experiences. Even though we deal with a generally well described condition, there are so many variations making each case almost unique. The cause, severity, presentation and progression may vary, and there are a number of treatment alternatives depending on the individual circumstances.
